I’ve been looking for a new sketching exercise lately, and I’d forgotten how much I like to draw masks— you can delve into geometry, symmetry, abstraction, facial expressions, symbolism, pretty much anything you could improve in your art.
All of these masks are real, from different cultures and times, picked at random from an image search.
Another color version— I could make new ones for days:

Somehow, my notes for this week’s Illustration Friday word went from “Things that are red” to this. RAAAGE is a thing that is red, no?
Now that the Valentine’s Day card-making and selling has subsided a bit, I had time to draw for IF again. I missed that weekly exercise! The word “exotic” gave me a hard time because it’s so relative.
Sometimes I just draw things I want to have. The closest I could find to this, after searching the whole Internet, was a laptop cover, but it wasn’t a suitcase!
