I’m a real bird now!
Drawn in a mixture of watercolor and pencil. I added the pale blue tint in the background with GIMP, my first attempt at using this program to do subtle coloring. I am trying to switch over from Photoshop…
***Update: Hey hey, I’m Pick of the Week! Thanks guys!!
Interesting idea in this picture–that the bird is real in one of its forms or the other. I really like your technique here too. Just out of curiousity, what aren’t you liking about photoshop.
Thank you!
My problem is not with Photoshop as a program. I was using an old version of it on my computer and it was fine. At first I was only interested in GIMP because it was free, and I can’t afford the new Photoshop. I haven’t used it enough to make a proper comparison between the two, but so far I can say that I really like using GIMP, and because it’s open-source, people keep adding features that Photoshop doesn’t have. Also I just think it’s great that there are some free alternatives to Adobe’s programs, which have had an expensive monopoly for a long time.
Brilliant, Just a really well done work. It´s a great example of a nice aboard about the subject.
Wonderful concept and coloring!
love it! I also thought of a paper crane, brilliant job blending the two forms
clever idea, very imaginative!
really nice concept, brilliant.
Truly awesome!
Wow- what a great idea! And I’m amazed at how you put the concept onto paper. Great job!
beautifully done!
Very nice and I like the coloring. I have tried and like Artrage which has a free version but ended up paying $25 for the version with layers, compatable with photoshop.
Congrats on pick of the week!
Hi, thanks for telling me about Artrage. I’m checking it out right now, definitely will try the free version- I might end up paying the $25, just to play with the metallic paint and glitter 🙂
Congrats on your feature! I love working with WC and CP too, your concept is super creative.
this is simply delightful.
what a cool idea and illustration!
love your bugs! fantastic work altogether.
A lovely idea and beautifully drawn. The background is really nice, too. I thought it was done in watercolors, as well. Excellent job.
What a beautiful illustration! Very classy and stylish.
Amazing work!
